I’ve been beavering away while the Boss is away (Private jet to the island near Tonga that he owns) and at time of writing, have stuff upon the system, awaiting image processing and publishing. These include a feature with a gallery about the mad 156dB Clarion Scooby I saw in Las Vegas and news of a new system concept from DLS, where they have designed a collection of stuff to create a ‘known good’ system and then done a crunch on the rate. Far more than a bloke banging crockery dahn the mahkit, this is more like discounts on mid-engined cars.
There’s a review of the Truly Yummy Pioneer DEH-P88RSII headunit as well. It’s pretty much just a CD player, really. But then a Mitsubishi Evo Umpteen is pretty much just a car….
There’s news about the dB Drag guys and how they will be at the GTi show, GTi International at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, and how to enter and words of encouragement as to how easy and fun it is.
The other and bigger sound off format of EMMA or the European Mobile Multimedia Association is going to be at CAS the same weekend, of which more above, too.
But you’ll possibly be seeing this towards the middle of the week as we had issues with the jet coming back over the Bermuda Triangle, setting up a time anomaly. So basically, this’ll be up first before the news gets published and unless the Guv’Nor doesn’t actually kip in the days after the tropical trip, then events may catch up with us! (Moral of this story – get your news to TA a bit sooner than that. Trouble is, they all want to be on the flashy zoomy bit above, in the last few days before the event. We’ll see what’s do-able…)
Back to the Music and I have been playing with the Vibe LiteBox Bass1 and the Alpine SBE-1243BR bass reflex box. It has pretty blue LED lighting inside and looks bloody lush. I have covered it with a shirt between testing episodes to stop The Ginger Ninjas (our three young mogs) from doing the “can-you-peel-the-carpet-off-it-with-thirty-fish hooks?” test. I can’t tell you what they did a certain JBL box (ulp!)
The sad thing is that Jon Clements is the as-short listed-by-big-publishing-house writer who’s first foray on to TA magazine has thus been shortened in lifespan – but hey, that’s merely a long winded way of introducing the new Official dB drag event reporter, Wonks!
Finally, I’d like to do some Readers’ Rides features. Got a system you are proud of? Pig-Ugly But BRUTAL also counts as feature worthy, so don’t be shy. What’ll make it different from kak in a photobucket is Really Good Shots and someone who can size them down at will. I’ll be needing just three shots sending by way of ‘auditions’, well framed, focussed and composed. That, a kit list and a contact to ask a bunch of stuff for your write up. If it’s a “yes!”, then I’ll need lots of pictures…….
