Talk Audio – Where Playing With Your Knob Is Regarded As Essential
Here’s hoping that despite tougher times, Santa had stuff for you and your ride at Christmas that has got a smile on your face and that the new decade will bring cool technology and ever yet better integration and functionality.
Sadly I have to admit that unlike last year, Talk Audio will not be able to cadge a lift to the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show. I am however registered and have had a slew of really excellent PR flow into my inbox these last few weeks. There are some 20,000 new products being launched and while computing, TV and other stuff is doing well, the North Halls that have always been the ICE section will now also be housing the Chinese component supplying companies as well. The fact that last year this area was populated with largely unused ‘meeting rooms’ in shell scheme has to be a part of this. There are some really notable gaps in the exhibition, too this year. No Rockford for example, due to costs.
Unsurprisingly, more and more companies are choosing to be in Las Vegas at CES time but to buy into PR lists without actually being booked into a mainstream show booth. I am getting invite after invite to hotel suites to see stuff that would mean that I would literally be able to do the whole four days without ever actually stepping in the main halls – if I was reporting on other stuff…
So I will try and keep you guys up to speed as the show runs, since they do produce some great acreages of press and video. I will admit that doing the show on a shoestring last year was a bit grim. All you have ever read or imagined about Las Vegas is utterly true and it’s a rough place to be without a cab fare and an invitation to tea with someone!
I did make the promised videos and have a Bazooka tube and the MTX square son-of-jackhammer subwoofer and enclosure filmed as well. In fact, it may be the best next-easiest review to get posted as well. So I’m going to startle the cats and boom the house to bits with the bass amp.
Have a booming and yet utterly high fidelity Talk Audio New Year and here’s to 2010 being at least fun if not prosperous!
