Week Six, Clever Pioneer Tricks
Well it was a gripping end to last week, with my befriending a dangerously canny bloke to help me unscrew the digital whichness of what of the Pioneer DEH-P8100BT headunit. As well as all the usual audio testing, we tried the unit in three different rigs, including his car. The conclusions were interesting and we’ll try and get the review up this week. So I owe a debt of thanks to forum user Graham, known as pc99, who is a software developer for a university department in the home counties who came to gang up on this with me.
I have some additional news to bring you regarding some new Pioneer headunits (as well as the review of the 8100) and there’s a new Alpine demo car around for the upcoming Auto Sound Style Show. It was the subject of a seven day and night competitive build-off in Germany and was the winning car. I fancy a full feature on that one. There’s the full system diagram of Project Big Black to show you now that thejoose has seen how much cubic he has in the mighty Pajero. It’s certainly causing a fuss on the forum and a good few folks have been off checking out Matt’s blog about the build. The plot is that it’ll be at the show with the wiring being done right there and hopefully ready for the Modified Nationals show in May (28th 29th and 30th).”>
The long promised test boxes ought to be ready within a few days now, so that big old pile of coaxes in the loft will see some action as I plan to try a whole bunch of simple coaxial replacement speakers. The sort you use if you are not ready to commit to using component speakers. And of course, there is that twelve inch woofer destruction-test I still fancy once the weather’s nice enough to go use the old fridge at Entec (wrote their site BTW!) to blow woofers up inside!
Exciting news also due from Celsus Ice this week, to do with iconic cabling brand Stinger…
I’ll go get on then….
