Vibe’s Bubonic Room and Some More Cool Stuff from Vegas!

You have to hand it to our roving reporter Mike ‘Guru’ Organ, he is a talented photographer and has been doing all the picture editing and e-mailing of images to enable Talk Audio magazine to bring you this hot news super fast as it happens this time round. I have been loving it! Here’s Mike’s latest report:
Vibe had a dark room on the stand with the new BlackDeath range additions lurking within by a coffin. The much awaited Bubonic subwoofer was on show alongside the huge monoblock ‘Reaper’ amplifier. You can see the amplifier here pictured with a 12inch subwoofer enclosure to get a real impression of size of this beast!

Vibe also showed the new BlackDeath high output full range compression drivers , with a horn tweeter 6in and 8in options.

And finally, some more generally cool stuff that caught our man’s eye….
Arc Audio had some very cool demo stands based on a mini trike, a Harley, a Batman “Batt Kruiser” bicycle and a custom wrap around pod. They also showed their entrant into the ultra compact class D full range amp arena called the “Mini” series.

Soundstream showed their relaunched “legends” range with the Reference, Lil Wonder and Rubicon range all being revamped. They also had a new extreme SPL series called X3 with a 4,000W monoblock amplifier. The Soundstream stealth amplifiers were on show with the very small size and stackable mount option. Under their Precision Power brand they took the lid off a rather juicy and well built PDX-10K 10,000W RMS monoblock

Cadence had their monster sized woofer back on show alongside a beautiful Supercharged LS2 Corvette in orange of course)!

JVC showed a new radio line-up that focussed on dual USB inputs and customised display colours. They also showed a concept car unit with a 3D navigation screen viewed without the need for glasses. The 3D effect on naviagtion was mad with the maps seeming to have depth into the dash. Not sure on viewing angles at this stage though as non glasses 3D seems to need direct viewing – not something you get in a car dash at this stage!

Unusually some car manufacturers decided to also have a large presence in the North Hall of CES with Ford and Audi both taking sizeable plots to showcase their latest factory tech. Ford in particular drew crowds with a big video wall showing a cool video previously spotted on the forum featuring the driving skills of Ken Block in a 650bhp Fiesta.

So there you have it! We have some more general shots and I gather some more video for when Mike returns as well, hopefully some photography of a couple of installs I begged him to cover. But with the huge amount he has covered and the fact that I know he got in at four in the morning last night means we will have to wait and see if he face-planted mid-North Hall through exhuastion or managed even yet further heroics!
But a cracking load of reporting and at the standard rate of one thousand words per picture, (a picture speaks a thousand….) then this is some serious reportage we have had laid down! A huge thank you to Connects2 for hosting the trip and a huge thank you to Mike for working so hard on what should have been a well-deserved jolly!
