Week Eight: In Which I get Hectic

Ooer, lots on this week. First, I have the absurdly small JL Audio XD amps in my test rig. I have the XD 400/4 to run the Front and Rear outputs of the resident reference Pioneer P88RSII headunit, with a teeny SmartCar sized XD 200/2 running bridged into the pint-sized JL Audio 8W3v3 bass box from the subwoofer outputs. All three items are to be reviewed and meanwhile, I shall put some new speakers in each of the four test enclosures that the 400 is driving. I have a few sets of Six By Nines to try and several 170mm jobs but I think I am going to play with the new Pioneer speakers I brought back with me from my jaunt to lift off the next year of doings with Pioneer recently. I needed some new bits for my test rig to wire the extra amplifier, so Google searched and found my nearest dealer, who are at soundevo.co.uk and who are keen young switched on dudes and looked after me a treat. Thanks lads!
It really is quite amazing what the new generation of Class D amps are sounding like. I raved about Alpine’s PDXes, I saw a small set of mono blocks being used to drive a set of fifty grand TAD (Pioneer) mastering speakers at a recording studio and I suspect these JL Audio XD amps are in that new bracket. We’ll find out.
I’m due at the Bristol HiFi show on Press day this Friday and looking forward to damn good nag with the lovely folks at Alpine on Thursday. I have a six-eights, 1,700w home woofer in the living room that needs to be collected on Wednesday and a Bowers & Wilkins DB1 I have the exclusive on for Home Cinema Choice that needs sorting out and will be working the following two weekends running for the Anglers Mail at fishing shows! OOOhh the sheer glamour of it all!
