Throwback Thursday – Men & Motors

Some years back, I had a career making TV for the specialist subject of car audio. I did get to make some spots on Men & Motors for the HTV region. I would offer a subject and a suggestion as to how it might look and they would say ‘yes’ and I would do the research and book the punters. It was as much fun as I ever had at work.

This video is about the contest where, in emulation of shops leaving everything to the last minute and working like nutters late into the night to finish a car, they perform a car fitment lasting the first 48 hours of a 3 day show. Two teams would start with an unmodified car and have to add everything in just 48 hours before their work was judged.

It was an absurd contest idea but it ran and ran, despite the epic costs and complexities of setting up TWO mobile car audio installation bays, like field kitchens, at a show!

Anyway, here’s the video from the Men & Motors YouTube channel, that Neil Kelly told me about, via a Facey post! This has been up since 2013 with less than 150 views. Let’s fix that!
