Week Twenty-Six: In Which I Have Been To Brands Hatch.
I have the test rig re-assembled and it has a Blaupunkt GTA 4 Special Edition 2011 four channel amplifier in it, as well as a set of Infinity ovals, the Reference 6933i – now reviewed plus a set of Infinity Kappa components that are yet to be written up but sound lovely and sweet, with very fast tweeters and more hardware for mounting them than I have ever seen. I am a little worried about the Pioneer DEH-P88RSII that I use for reference as I may have messed it about with odd use as a reviewer, rather than proper installation and given it a huff. I’ll have to check it on the desk test rig and lab power supply.
I’m freshly returned from a day roasting in the entirely-predicted hot weather at Brands Hatch for the Modified Live show and the fourth round of the EMMA sound off series. It remains brilliantly well organised and popular. I got some really good videos and one really rubbish one I don’t think I can use but they will be on Presenterbloke on YouTube soon and thus usable within an article about the event.
There was news about some sexy new truck-based demo installs to be learned and I was only told a little bit of information.but I would keep up with Highdown Car Audio on Facebook, as it sounds mysterious and cool at the moment. I suspect Americana.
The show was a serious modded motors bean feast and Subaru UK were there, showing off their newest game-changing policy. They have OEM approved certain products from the likes of top end performance parts suppliers, from springs, (like Eibach) to audio, in the shape of Pioneer. They have three stages and it looks like the most costly a cool ten grand on the car and called Stage 3, will be trying its luck through the lanes at the Silverstone Trax event. I’m losing a day to a fish website tomorrow (link) with video camera and fear in my heart, but will be at the post otherwise.
One lovely thing I got away with, was to swag Japspeed a year’s tracking cover with hardware and the subscription, courtesy of link I was one of many who saw that their drift car had been driven off by thieves at the recent Performance Vauxhall show, on Facebook, although it was everywhere and I just made a call. It’s a race car, hence the motorcycle tech.
Gosh it’s warm!
