Week Thirty – Eight: In Which The Golden Phoenix Returns

You know what? I must be pretty obsessed as I found myself amongst some of the most bass-crazed folks in the South East on Saturday and yet found I was amongst friends. And all in all, I would say to those who prefer the ‘˜Good Old Days’ or keep on saying ‘˜Back In The Day’ was better and wish to live in some period of their past, that they had crystallised. Become rigid and entombed for ever in the last place they were active in the scene.
Like dads’ fashions, their tastes and knowledge are locked into the last time they could afford to have car audio as a hobby, is the often unsaid truth. And you can collect second hand classics, like old supercars, for beans on the right market square, like Talk Audio. Also, you may have stuff like baby milk to pay for first. I don’t rail against the used side of the ICE world, I revel in it. Like in home audio, where you talk in hushed tones of a valve amplifier, I know someone who wants an Alpine 7909 Juba REALLY badly for an Eighties full-concours d’elegance car he’s preparing. He wants an ideal sound system but perfectly on-eramadder than most! So if you have one, chip in below and we’ll put you in touch.
Anyway, ‘˜pon reflection, as our ‘˜industry’ shrinks versus the mainstream, there’s still lots of us proper enthusiasts out here keen to learn about the leading edge of the mobile electronics scene and there are more professional people, better at installing it, than ever before. So, stuff The Good Old Days!
I reckon, with the newest developments in high end signal-data interception from the Italians, that right now is as exciting a time as any we have ever had. There’s this damn clever Tos-linky thing that gets in the car’s fibreoptic system and lifts out the data stream before the car’s audio system gets the chance to do any Digital to Analogue Conversion (DAC) and instead uses its own. This is the stuff of mega-end and yet uses the OEM player. Awesome.
The SPL day at CAS was laid back and a little odd at first. I will give it a full write up as soon as I canmeanwhile, it was a joyous occasion too and I can now count siblings Amar, Tej and Joe’s mum and dad and even a couple of new grandmas as my friends.
Best of all in the upcoming week is that tomorrow my orbit and that of Mr. Morgan West are to intersect. He’s the product designer and manager for Phoenix Gold and is doing a UK tour on a serious Phoenix Gold training mission to teach the keen and willing new UK Phoenix Gold dealers about the current range and what it is capable of. I’m going to the Watford evening tomorrow and will report.
Finally, and from the week after this but at the very beginning, (so I’ll tell you now as well as next week for helping plan your world) I am hosting another of the very popular Huets Ice Night events. Wicked Huets installs, cool demo cars and some mad deals on the night. It’s next Tuesday night, 27th September. It’s at Unit B7), Evershed Way, Shoreham, West Sussex, BN43 6QB from 7pm or go see link for more.
Until then, keep the faith alive for the tunes while you drive.
