Review by Adam Rayner
A well made and good looking set of entry level component speakers that can produce a ridiculous amount of bass for the size of their cones. This must be to do with the relatively huge magnets behind them that are not much smaller in diameter than the cones themselves, even allowing for the big old rubbery boot placed around the ferrite. They can have their tweeters mounted, like so many can, either flush, angled or else simply surface-mounted, using the ubiquitous set of plastic housings. There is a good card template to help in making the holes in the right place, fixings and the lovely sculpted Fusion grilles as well as some wire, although this is terribly thin. I would use thicker stuff myself. I hated the midbass drivers terminals. They are simple Gold Plated lugs but to me looked mounted the wrong way around. They had to be bent quite a lot to allow the wires to clip on as they faced the magnet, not outwards. Maybe this was a manufacturing error. Either way, itd be simple to fix. The sound was detailed and punchy although not too refined. This is still a better output than many entry level speakers can muster and along with the other products in the EN-4CNR four corner pack they can be sold with, make for one hell of a sound for the money. In my youth I spent 55 on a simple graphic booster. For far less than the equivalent now, allowing for inflation, I could have had all this. How they manage to reduce the price by 25% and yet still include an extra set of RCAs, a set of plates for this set of speakers and a separate system diagram beats me. These are a good buy as they are, with the kit they can come as a part of , they are a bargain. The electronic components within the passives are mostly branded with Fusions logo and although the inductor coils are ferrite cored they are small and will saturate under high power drive before the speakers run out of steam. Good looking and good sounding for the money and a very well designed bit of Fusion branding. I liked them, even if they are bit hooligan-struck!
