Propper Droppers England Rock ESSEX
I scootled around the M25 last Saturday night to get to the King Of The Ring. This is in the old Mean Streets Cruise slot of first Saturday of the month at Arena Essex that I compered for years. Back then, we had Darren Millard show up and do the dB Drag racing thing and I was always a bit sick I couldn’t get around to see them when I worked there. These days, Darren’s format and the newer UK and Europe ‘Propper Droppers’ format work together on a good few shows and PD is what happens at the KOTR events as an alongside thing.
Truth is, it looks like a serious slice of ‘gate’ for the promoters, as the biggest spectator-attended bass contests that happen anywhere in the UK, occur on those cinders! And I wanted to catch up with Mark Smith to see if his car will crack the one-sixty!
He so nearly did it at 159.6dB and I KNOW the kit in there will do it but he needs to get on the power! Iceman has been known to use an extra battery bank on the deck behind him at shows and the Audemex PSU which he holds for Talk Audio, all 125A RMS of it, from regular mains helped feed it like a power-pig! (Above this, you start to need 30A, then three phase and Audemex make them, too.)
The rapidly-legend-carving Volvo 850 of Mark Smith and Team Ice. Here, Iceman picks a Bass Mekanik tune!
It was a lovely warm evening at last and word HAS got out and people do come to see, as it isn’t inside a huge car show, just the tenner-to-get-in, which in real terms, since I was working there is a good slice better value this many years later! So let’s see what it looked like!
First, as part of a re-edit.. the video stuff I got that night about cars OTHER than Mark Smith.

And corny though it be, the bass brings together people as a community that you might not expect the nerd and a dude with locks, who was posher-spoken than the nerd, as it happened.
The whole night was about the bass and how low can you go?
And Danielle Christie came along to see the drift action, with her geezer&;
