New car audio speaker system combines 38 years of experience with technological innovation
Morel announces that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for its 38 Anniversary Limited Edition car audio speaker system. Products entered in CEA’s prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade media to honour outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products across 29 product categories.
38 Limited Edition Anniversary system is high fidelity, breaking new boundaries in terms of technological innovation to elevate musical presentation to a whole new performance level for a vibrant and engaging life-like experience.
‘Morel converged 38 years of research, experience, innovation and manufacturing know-how to produce this system.’ Said Oren Mordechai, Morel’s vice president and head of R&D.
The 38 Limited Edition can be configured as a 2-way or a 3way system. ‘All the drivers were especially engineered and optimised to work together to achieve one purpose, to push sound quality performance to the next level,’ Mr. Mordechai, explained. ‘Made to perform exceedingly well in the inherently problematic acoustic chamber of a car, and within the off-axis placement that is often forced upon the installer.’
The system features the most advanced Morel technologies
Woofer: open and shallow profile chassis, one-piece Carbon Fibre/Rohacell sandwich cone, powerful and efficient Hybrid magnet motor system with a large 3in Titanium External Voice Coil (EVC„¢), for high power handling and exceptional linearity.
Midrange and tweeter: 28mm and 54 mm Acuflex„¢ coated, Tweeter terminated with silver-plated Van Den Hul linear crystal wire.
Crossover: Engineered to present a coherent sound stage with width and depth for a realistic reproduction of the original music. It offers flexibility in installation, simplicity in tuning and the ability for speaker components to be driven to their limits once installed. The 38 LE uses a phase-aligned crossover network employing audiophile-grade Mundorf components. These components allow a near perfect integration of all of the driver components in the car in an off-axis installation environment.
The Lotus grille provides a beautiful finish to the 38 LE system. ‘It seemed to us a paradox to be spending great resources in minimizing distortion in speaker components only to be placing a cover that ‘˜colours’ the sound,’ said Mr. Mordechai.
The Morel 38 Anniversary Limited Edition is a true gem – it will be displayed in the Venetian Tower Suites 30-118 & 30-120 at the 2014 International CES, which runs January 7-10, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Honourees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled: The Official Media Event of the International CES from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 5 in South Seas Ballroom C at Mandalay Bay.
