Morel Mondays: VW T2 Campervan

No brand of car (or van) in existence has quite the same ubiquity and lunacy amongst support as Volkswagen. The cultures of the different sorts of VW vehicles are as multifarious as their types and all are ‘˜adhesive’. They love each other. And suffice for me to say that the owners of these particular vans will nearly always wave at each other for being brethren when they come across each other on the roads. I’ll not go off into the lore.
It’s a little lost on me, in so far as the owner took four people on holiday in this small van and that the ‘˜Wild Camping’ element it is capable of supporting (meaning no hook-up to power and water) is something I’d be happier doing off road but the passion runs deep. I think I am just too damn big.
Anyway, this has a TV tuner for the roof mounted Alpine screen. A Becker radio cassette of 1979 vintage (despite me clearly being heard saying it was a 1972 one in the voiceover on the video) as well as a Parrot Asteroid. It is the type using a small touch screen to access all the features and means the driver has access to pretty much everything in the world of entertainment, right there. In fact with the latest deals with THREE, even tethering your smartphone to run say Internet Radio streaming and have Radio North Pole (true. go find it) running on your system.
It has four lots of fifty watts and the Maximo coaxes are so amazingly efficient, the system can rock really well, without the major league draining of the batteries. The systems in here are intense with regard to the camping side of things as the likes of the WAECO equipment would normally only be found in MUCH bigger vehicles.
Room to stand up inside also has beds in the roof.

The interior is fully furnished by the Auto Audio team, who also built the entire conversion’s furniture. It really is a bit fabulous and I love that fridge. And that sumptuous stripy fabric is by a company that holds a Royal Warrant as a supplier to the Royal Family.
