ALPINE: Life Changing Career Opportunity!

Talk Audio has never run much in the way of job adverts but this is a corker. Always tragic to lose an old contact professionally, but me and Alpine aftermarket tech adviser Ross are pukka mates and he is going to be making ridiculous loudspeaker enclosures for home and portable use inside improbable enclosures like suitcases. Some if this has been done before in concept but Ross is an acoustician and I know his are hilariously far more bonkers. We shall keep in touch as audio nutters are gold dust.

I heard about it directly from my chums in management at Alpine. First, here is the general thing that’s wanted, followed by the formal job specification/requirements.

Here’s what the Guv’nor said ‘We do need a decent tech bod.
Understanding of installation, system building, integration with OEM, phone connectivity, using portable devices as audio source etcetera.
We get loads of tech queries about compatibility issues with Bluetooth, software upgrades and similar. So an understanding of these issues and using a PC/laptop in conjunction with car audio products is an advantage.
The job will also include placing orders for dealers, stock enquiries, etc, as it’s a dual role. This can be trained of course, but it is quite an important part of the job.
Needs to be within sane range of Coventry, as this is what finally did for Ross. He was not getting any family time, sadly.
We have no age preference but an ability to soak up new stuff is essential. We prefer a keen and enthusiastic person with plenty of maturity and common sense, plus the ability to deal with unhappy or very demanding customers, without telling them where to go!’

Aftermarket Support Co-ordinator
Department: Aftermarket Business Unit
Reports To: Technical and Aftermarket Support Manager
SUMMARY: As a member of Aftermarket Support, based at our Head Office in Coventry, the coordinator will provide a key support function between customers and the sales and warehouse teams. Organisation, IT, communication and written skills, along with a sense of focus and commitment are essential. A basic technical background in the car audio industry is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other Duties may be assigned.
. To respond quickly and efficiently to all incoming enquiries, by telephone, fax and emails from customers/ dealers/ Alpine internal customers and logistics
. Handling of, and taking responsibility for, customer enquiries liaising with all Alpine departments both in the UK and Overseas
. Sales order processing
. Product/customer maintenance/ set up
. To liaise at all times with all team members and work as a team to reach targets set by the Senior Business Manager
. Maintain call logging for technical enquiries
. Maintain the customer credit register and ensure the completion of the credit and returns procedure
. Review technical drawings/ diagrams as part of the problem solving process
. Liaise with Aftermarket and Parts and Accessories (P&A) departments
. Problem solving installation/ system design
. P&A support System design/ evaluation
. Installation evaluation
. Creation of installation/ user guides
. Product Support
. New product evaluation AOEU
. Create point of sale (POS)/ training/ dealer support material
. Show Support General support with stands/ POS material
. Demo Car Maintain and prepare for press and shows
. Requirement to do some show/event support at the weekend (time off in lieu)
. General office duties, including filing
. To participate in any project or carry out specific tasks as may be assigned by the Sales Manager from time to time
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES This person has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
This position is a support position requiring GSCE Level in Maths and English or equivalent and should possess experience within a similar role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND/OR ABILITY
Familiarity with the automotive industry would be advantageous. Experience in a similar role required.
