Trackstar Announce Investment In West Surrey Racing BTCC Team

Trackstar are delighted to announce that they are striking up a partnership with West Surrey Racing who have close associations with BMW UK. This partnership covers the 2014 season and includes brand visibility and corporate hospitality, which is planned for use to reward BMW dealers for their support of the BMW Trackstar Stolen Vehicle Tracking programme.
John Lawrence, Managing Director of Trackstar, stated: ‘This is an exciting venture for us and we are looking forward to working with David Eggleton and the team at West Surrey Racing during this season.’
David Eggleton, Director West Surrey Racing Ltd, stated: ‘ West Surrey Racing is a UK-based motorsport team run by New Zealander Dick Bennetts. Founded in 1981, WSR has won more than 70 races in Formula 3 and more than 20 class and outright wins in the BTCC.’
The British Touring Car Championship, starting Saturday 29th March, is the UK’s premier four wheeled motorsport series, famed for its close racing, unpredictable results and inevitable contact between its hard charging drivers. About West Surrey Racing
WSR began in 1981 as a British Formula 3 Race Team. In the ten years that followed Dick Bennetts mentored five British F3 Champions; Palmer, Senna, Gugelmin, Hakkinen and Barrichello.
In 1996 the team moved into the BTCC and ran the Works Ford Mondeos until 1998 when WSR expanded to include design and development. The final years of the Super Touring Cars saw WSR running the Works Honda Accords.
In 2002, when the BTCC was revamped, WSR took on the Works MG Rover ZS’ in a deal that encompassed design, build, develop and race. WSR further expanded into circuit design and prototype engineering.
WSR moved onto the BMW, Team RAC, from 2007 to 2009 when Colin Turkington took the BTCC Driver’s title.
