Parrot ASTEROID Smart & Tablet Software Update 2.3
Advanced Voice Control Capabilities and Enhanced Services
As a pioneer and expert in in-vehicle connected multimedia solutions, Parrot is now releasing a free software update for its advanced Parrot ASTEROID products: ASTEROID 2.3.
Developed for Parrot ASTEROID Tablet and ASTEROID Smart systems, this update allows users to launch and manage apps and new features through vocal commands, and offers a number of new services.
Commands and services controlled by voice.
Allowing users to focus on the road, drivers can now access apps and services, and select music content by voice control. Text messages also can be read out vocally when received.
Hands-free telephony:
When an incoming call is received, drivers can simply say ‘accept’ or ‘reject’ in order to answer the call or not. When a phone call is rejected, a personalized text message can be automatically sent to the caller.
Incoming text messages can also be read out, thanks to the vocal synthesis by the Parrot ASTEROID Smart and Tablet, through the vehicle’s speakers. This allows drivers to keep their eyes on the road.
Note: With Parrot ASTEROID Smart or Tablet, hands-free phone calls are enhanced with HD voice (a compatible network and mobile phone are both required)
Apps:
After having activated voice recognition, users can say ‘application’ followed by the name of the service requested and the app will launch automatically. For example, state, ‘Application Weather’ and the weather app will run. If the requested app is not installed, the Parrot ASTEROID Smart or Tablet will connect to the Parrot ASTEROID Market to download.
Music:
Exclusively available on the Parrot ASTEROID Smart: In addition to the ability to search for an artist or an album by voice, the new voice recognition capabilities will also allow users to search for radio stations. State the radio station name or its frequency and the Parrot ASTEROID Smart will find it.
Note: When you start the car again after a brief stop, the music will also be played again from where it has been stopped, whether it’s a music file from a connected by cable peripheral or from an SD card. (This is a massive improvement! Ed)
An ergonomic ‘dashboard’ widget
The ASTEROID 2.3 free software update also includes a Widget ‘Dashboard’.
When launched, the user will discover an ultra-ergonomic interface, that allows access to the primary Parrot ASTEROID Smart and Tablet features:
Geolocalization of the car and display of the local road conditions, thanks to a new map partner, Bing Maps! One click on the map and the GPS navigation app will start;
Voice Recognition (telephony, apps, music search.)
Audio player (radio, music listening)
Volume settings
Exclusively available on the Parrot ASTEROID Smart: New features and video compatibilities.
Connect a webcam to one of the USB ports available on the back of the Parrot ASTEROID Smart and video can be streamed in live on the large touch screen.
During night time journeys, you can also select the ‘black screen’ features in order to turn the screen off while keeping apps running (GPS, music, etc.).
