HARMAN Deliver Innovation and Luxury for Hyundai Genesis G90

A while back, I had to become interested in the madness that was high end brands getting involved with OEM mobile electronics. We saw B&W in Jaguar and then Maserati. We saw Mark Levinson in Lexus, NAIM in Bentley and the legendary studio outboard processor geniuses at Lexicon getting involved in Rolls Royce, no less. Well, that was the start and this year we are seeing some absurd stuff in cars as they are sold and Talk Audio has to reflect changes! Yep, There’ll still be the stuff that Original Readers love, with mad end aftermarket..but this story is about the future… and is about the new luxury brand of Hyundai and how they are now installing LEXICON stuff into their brand new posher offerings..here’s their press release:
First vehicle in new Genesis luxury brand features full complement of connected car features and custom-tuned, premium Lexicon surround sound
STAMFORD, CT December 15, 2015 HARMAN (NYSE: HAR), the premier connected technologies company for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets, announced the start of production of advanced connected car and audio solutions for the Genesis G90, the first vehicle from Hyundai’s new luxury brand.
A New Standard for Intelligent, Finely-Tuned Driving Experiences
The new Genesis G90 from Hyundai sets a new standard for a more personalised, safer and enjoyable driving experience, and HARMAN’s most advanced products and technologies are integral to bringing this promise to life. HARMAN’s designed and built embedded infotainment system for the Genesis G90 includes 2D and 3D navigation, high definition mapping, voice commands, enhanced Bluetooth® hands free connectivity, rich multimedia support, and a 200GB hard drive. HARMAN’s attention to design and functionality is evident in the luxurious interface, featuring a 12.3-inch HD screen with touch control located in the center console. The wide screen format supports split display, so entertainment, apps, media and phone information can easily be displayed along with navigation, HVAC, and vehicle system data. HARMAN’s infotainment system for the Genesis G90 also includes dual 9.2-inch rear seat monitors for backseat connectivity and entertainment. High speed embedded connectivity is supported through an integrated 4G/LTE modem.
The Korean version of the Genesis G90 (the EQ900) is also the first mass-produced car with partially autonomous driving. It comes with a highway driving assist system which enables hands-free driving on highways as well as a lane guidance system and an advanced smart cruise control. These advanced safety features will be supported through the HARMAN infotainment system to help control vehicle speed by recognising speed limits and risk areas for speeding.
Premium Lexicon Surround Sound Transforms the Cabin to a Concert Hall
Driven by technical expertise, passionate craftsmanship and unwavering attention to detail, HARMAN also engineered and built the premium Lexicon surround sound system that complements the luxurious cabin interior. The finely-tuned sonic experience for the Genesis G90 is offered in two options a 14-speaker, 600-watt base model or upgraded 17-speaker, 900 watt system. Designed specifically for the unique characteristics of the vehicle, Lexicon engineers have spent thousands of hours of meticulous ‘voicing’ to deliver an experience in the Genesis G90 that marries the science of sound with the passion of art. The Lexicon Sound System boasts Quantum Logic surround sound, while HARMAN’s patented Clari-fi software rebuilds details lost in compressed audio files, adjusting the treatment based on the quality of the audio signal to restore a hi-fidelity listening experience.
‘We are proud to support Hyundai’s new flagship luxury offering and complement its thoughtful design with the most innovative connectivity, security and custom experiences possible today,’ said Dinesh Paliwal, HARMAN Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. ‘The HARMAN and Hyundai brands continue their longstanding partnership delivering innovative and seamless features for drivers and passengers, and the Genesis G90 is no exception. As seen with record-breaking pre-orders in Korea, the Genesis G90 strikes the perfect balance for today’s consumers with a refined vehicle exterior design and dynamic interior experience.’
The Genesis G90 replaces the renowned Hyundai Equus as the brand’s flagship luxury vehicle. Available now in Korea (as the Genesis EQ900), the Genesis G90 will be available in the US and European markets by mid 2016.
