Men in MDF Best of the Best of the Best
Talk Audio magazine reports about a trio of very important awards recently invested by Mobile Electronics News, in three of the UK’s very best Ice installers.
Asked for an opinion about the very best installer of the year, a slew of votes came in and the praise attached to each name was so bonkers and deep that there was no question but that all three nominees be given a Gold.
These guys are awesome craftsmen and in two cases have a team of others backing them up and with huge skillsets themselves. The closest to me geographically is an old friend and I have been lucky enough to have a car done by him once – and is a previous holder of both a Gold and a Silver in previous years’ awards.
Paul Richardson of A1 Audio Designs is a genius and sculptor in Ice. His system design is legendary, his finish and smooth curved surfaces are the most tactile you will ever feel. I once asked him about a ‘sculpture for the blind. Kind of Phallo-Vulvic and with a nice tight double-stitched leather case on it’ and then, when I asked ‘are you seeing shapes in your mind, Paul?’ I knew the answer before he gave it. A seriously Top End Audiophile who has also helped build the only vehicle in UK history to take both SPL and SQ crowns from a dual-install system in the same vehicle in the same season.
He’s a totally brilliant easy going bloke and while a super-golden eared audiophile, he can break your spine with bass if you ask him to. Well done Mr. Paul Richardson!

The next is ‘˜K’ Karthik Gowrinath of Xquisite, who is keen to stress that he is just a team player. However, he and his have been responsible for more cover cars and fabulous installs inside said cover cars than any other operation in the UK history and I go back a ways! K is an utter star!

And lastly but by no means leastly, we have the Steel Town Hero Paul Ellis of Source Sounds in Sheffield. Paul credits his team for the place’s excellence but the truth is, his awesome leadership, totally amazing levels of skill and craftsmanship himself are what has inspired the Team Source customer base as well as his superstar team. They have fielded the longest serving and most successful team in UK Ice history, going back forever. A well deserved award, Dude!
