Two Tru Steels

TRU technology and Axis Distribution are proud to announce the launch of the eagerly awaited Steel Series amplifiers this week. In fact, so pleased that the minute they landed in the UK Chris jumped in his car and drove straight to the shipper’s depot to collect them rather than wait ’till the morning for the lorry!
The steel series amplifiers were specifically designed to be as tough as possible and to sound as good as possible but keeping a reasonable budget in sight. In the planning stages of this amplifier it was decided to keep all of the connections on one side of the amplifier for ease of installation and to keep a compact size so that it could sit under a seat. It was not designed to look pretty, but functional with nothing wasted on flash that no one will see. The first notable point to make is that the casing is brushed aluminium, not Steel as the name may suggest.

The range comprises just two well thought-out amplifiers, the S44 and the S500. The former being described as a Dual Stereo/Dual Mono design and the latter as a full range monoblock. The S44 uses a dual power supply, one feeding channel A+B and the second C+D so that when bridged, the amp acts as a true dual mono or when running C+D bridged to a subwoofer, the separation of power supplies ensures the component speakers always have sufficient drive.
To get the best noise performance (i.e. good signal to noise ratio. Ed)  the power supply and pre-amp are as far apart as possible. Hence they are on opposite sides of the amplifier, with the large fan cooled heat-sink in between them. Both the power supply and output devices are also heavily over-engineered, with a 100 Amp power supply, and 1000 Watts of output devices specified. This amp has plenty of headroom.

The amps are both designed and assembled from the ground up in LA, California by a small but dedicated team with a passion for audio, and a reputation for excellence in sound. We are confident that this amp will impress.
