Week Fourteen Merry Easter At FLACing Last!

My Easter gift to you and to my ears has been the Kenwood KMM-357SD and some FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files from the Bowers & Wilkins Society of Sound. So far, I have downloaded Peter Gabriel in Athens, a very pleasant and cunningly wove bunch of mandolins/lute string virtuosos called Three Cane Whale and some more worthy stuff like a bit of Gustav Holst for the obvious Planet suite (A very popular one to DADADADAAAAA along toMars, as used over and over in the movies) and a Creole choir for the voices. (And yes I do get totally emo over The Voice and X Factor alike as the human voice is what we are biologically built to hear best, our infants in particular.) And today, Bank Holiday Monday, I finally plugged my lovely Kenwood USB into the oddly sexy and very short-arsed aforementioned KMM-357SD for High Capacity Secure Digital, as yes, unlike most, this little spud does not run out at 4MB but allows you dirty great eff off postage stamps to 32GB each.
It certainly reads the FLACs a treat and it was tinkly and lovely through the Soundstream Reference amplifier and test speakers, some Morel Elates in this case. More in the full reviewbut it may well finally be the digital deck that I personally would really want to have in my world. With a little box of labelled SDs in the car, you can keep EVERYTHING in there on less than one cubic inch of space mind you, with a 32GB SDHCthat might just be four cards! Meanwhile there is that front SD and a 3.5mm aux in as well as tuner in there.
I’ll keep it brief but will try to get that FLACing thing written up, ASAP! I am awfully impressed by it already.
Tomorrow, along with our fully erect-all-over-with-keen new reporter, Simon King, I will be at the NEC at Gadget Show Live professional day, where I shall be making a point of seeing Alpine, Genesis, JVC, Kenwood, Parrot and Pioneer (at ONE PM I was told quite firmlyOooh exciting!) amongst others. There’s this fabric company I kinda wanna schmooze for the fishing bods, too
Hope you all had a jolly pleasant Easter, whether you ate too much chocolate, got none, or even have been going without leavened bread.
Must get on.
