RoadPilot Mobile App NEW Background Mode Available Now On IPhone With Lower Pricing

RoadPilot, suppliers of the very best electronic countermeasures around, became part of the group that also encompasses the Road Angel brand, as of a year ago. Separate brands on the same path, as it were. Now, Road ANGEL started with a dash mount gizmo you plugged into the cigar lighter and sometimes the internet indoors, to get the latest data from their amazingly excellent speed trap database. Then, they had models with their own GSM telephony as well as GPS cunning, so they phone up the database themselves and you do not have to remember to take the unit indoors and update it. But these dedicated products are not cheapo items and the new application for iPhone was a breakthrough. But now, the Road Angel app is no longer available and we just got the following news release in from RoadPilot about their app:

The most popular request posted on various app stores has been for background mode working.
Launched in 2011, RoadPilot Mobile, the application that alerts mobile phone users to the location of fixed and mobile speed cameras in real time now comes with an essential background update for IOS, and a new lower subscription price starting at only £1.49 (€1.79) in Europe.
With the RoadPilot Mobile application running, the new update means that if the iPhone enters sleep mode, or if the home button is pressed, iPhone users will now continue to benefit from speed camera and road speed alerts, receiving both a background audio warning and visual ‘ pop up’ banner warning notification.
New and existing RoadPilot Mobile users can download the newly released app to their iPhone via iTunes. Once downloaded, motorists with compatible handsets (iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S and 5) will be alerted to all fixed and mobile speed cameras, and with the road’s speed limit at each camera. Users are also given the ability to report new fixed and mobile speed cameras that are shared with other members the RoadPilot community which now has more than 1 million members.
The background mode feature will be added to mobile phones using the Android operating system soon
RoadPilot’s OMNI database of fixed speed cameras is one of the most comprehensive available. RoadPilot has surveyed in 33 countries, covering cities from Sao Palo to Singapore and Cape Town to Copenhagen; the latest updates to the database are downloaded automatically to the user’s mobile phone whenever the application is opened.
James Flynn OBE, CEO of RoadPilot commented, ‘Driving is a way of life for many people, but the growing number of hazards and distractions on the road means keeping within strictly-enforced speed limits is becoming increasingly difficult. RoadPilot Mobile, users can be alerted at the earliest opportunity to the presence of mobile and fixed speed traps…’
RoadPilot Mobile is available on most popular smartphone operating systems including Android, Nokia, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and iPhone.
