Week Eighteen And I Shall Probably Blub

I did get that Sony WX-GT90BT ‘semi-double-DIN’ head unit tested and used my lovely iPod touch as a swoopy-whizzy AppRemote controller for it, for the trade mag. To be honest, I had clean forgotten that I had downloaded the AppRemote doodah and so it just sort of sprang into life on its own, upon connection! Mind you, no more amazing than the lady I met at a birthday party who had no idea why the new, modern TV she had put in her kitchen had simply not shown any picture. She didn’t realise that an aerial was essential. Thought that was just OLD TV stuff&;
I shall get that converted to not-trade-written and thus for our consumption and publish. Also, I am long-term testing another Sony in a 2.8L convertible VW Golf right now, exploiting a friend. It’s A single DIN device of great power and I think the new users (her and her man) are impressed. The video of the new emplacement in the dash, including microphone (which seems not to care about the convertible thing and works well with the roof down.) is done. I will get her back to do a ‘Whaddaya-reckon?’ video as well.
On a deeper tip: Yes, written reviews are essential, yet video is what far more and also the frankly less damn literate internet users actually WANT. So, while I can get the reviews down to a size that can be printed as a PDF file on a page for use on counter tops at specialists’ maybe, the ‘net version can bear a video embed and I can do scores as well as unpacking and testing, on camera. What do you think? I can do a LOT more product that way and I think that matters..
On the blubbing tack, Andrew, known as Roo from EMMA has been working really hard on the WIN AN INSTALL competition and I have been given the true honour of doing the prize-awarding, as I said last Monday. The video we shall make has the first-test of me with cheap telephone microphone distortions, talking to Roo in Geordieland, using my call-divert-to-record-output doodad, already in the box. Then, the next bit –  yet to be made, as we do it on Wednesday – PRIZE DAY – we shall draw the winner live on the random number thingy.
Then, I shall call them and record the call! I shall have to ask permission of course and not use the recording until they said ‘yes’, but it aught to be emotional and done right, will be damn good radio! Unlike TV, when any prize gets a really long run up, this call will be a punch in the guts of pure JOY! And you ARE allowed to get as emotional as you want! Hell, I leaked a few soppy-arse tears when I was the bloke who phoned the winner of the Motorworld whole-car-prize! I’m an empath – cannot watch You’ve Been Framed and laugh at pain. Funny ones yes, but not watching bruised bones – even bum-bones! Cannot imagine where I inherited that&;
But this madness, THIS, has never been done! Check out link for a last-ditch chance to get entered during tomorrow, Tuesday 30th April as we do the winner-pick on the day of Pagan Revelry and Mirth, Mayday. And I am sure to get emotional myself.
Lastly but largely, Huets ICE NITE 5.0 was a different flavour and a really happening thing. I loved it. Report ASAP. Likewise the CAS weekender with the EMMA round one sound off was really good fun and just joyous to see so many NEW entrants in SQ as well as a better-than-in-all-UK-ice-history array of real bass nutters with ground shaking boom. I really think we can break my old ground pounder Guinness World record. We need a digital radio in each car and a really good broadcast of bass to coordinate us all! But whatever is played, the cars are just louder than ever before and the new products’ bass power is all the more astonishing every season.
Must get on&;.
