Week Twenty Two Weeks To The Modified Nationals
It is the end of a minor Era. As for every year since the show began, I have been the bloke who gets to present the trophies at the end of the Modified Nationals in Peterborough on the main stage, to the clubs and individual cars that triumph. Once, I ran a Man Vs Burger Challenge on said stage and the Peterborough Arena made monster patties of the local beef rather than assembling the one pounder made of four quarters I had suggested, which they could have actually sold at the street food stand trailer they have there. Wonderful, East of England Farmers! I love their stuff, for it means a show with decent food!
But they have booked some really cool acts for that stage, as what was once a bit of filler has turned into possibly the hottest up-and-coming-acts indicator. Maybe it’s the budget! Enough for the new acts, not enough for David Guetta (who’s tickets for Ocean in Miami were $170 each to get in) but not so low as to need nobodies. But if you look at who they had in spring in any one recent year and then who was big in autumn that same year, the Modded Nats main stage is a real prescient thing.
And I shall be working for EMMA as prize presenter from the indoor stage on the Sunday, so with luck can get my fix of ritual audience abuse! I looking forward to it.
I have show news. The BIG Vibe rig has been BANNED for causing seismic fracturing of the concrete floor at the Peterborough Arena and so they will be having a slew of cars but no Bass Tunnel. EMMA will be having an indoor section with a raffle you enter by doing a selfie with their promo model. Also, Ian Pinder’s BMW cabriolet will be there and even I have not seen it fully finished yet, either. And in addition, that crazy VW Caddy van from Ground Zero, the one with the eighteen fifteen inch woofers that we saw in the CAS/EMMA Round One report? Well, it will be there but NOT caged indoors, thus you can experience the might of 160dB.
If you ask nicely.
Still lots to get done, although I did throw down in the last bit of last week. You can see video, words and pictures of the Gadget Show Live stuff, including the new sexy stuff from Pioneer and the report with LOTS of video from the Car Audio & Security Open weekend as well as the whole Miami thing.
If you are reading this in the first week, 13th to 17th May 2014, then look above or to the right to see the video of the Bass Mekanik being interviewed in his Miami studio. If after that, then check my Presenterbloke channel on YouTube and have a shufty. Or you can find it under Interviews on the Talk Audio TV CMS via the drop downs from the magazine tab.
Finally.. FACT BOMB. T-20 LIVES! Yes, the upcoming Midbass Open Day is to incorporate Round Three of the EMMA UK Sound Off Series and also to resurrect the Talk Audio T-in-the-whatever meets! And T-20 will be in Sutton Coldfield in the Summer, at the sound off!
More, later, folks!
