Week Eleven Injury Puts Me On The Bench
First, minor apologies for delay. The JVC KD-R741BT deck took a little more time to get to grips with than I had thought. It was in fact just a quick press of the ‘˜reset’ button. On most in car CD players, there is a tiny round aperture, with the word ‘˜reset’ raised into the injection moulding, behind the faceplate. It is only narrow. You use a small prodder and poke the microswitch inside, gently. It even has a small ‘˜breakout force’ so you can feel a tiny click. With the power on, press this and all your settings will fly away, as well as, in my case, a reluctance to recognise stuff in the USB socket that I had been having issues with. It finally said ‘˜hello’ to the iPod too. Which is more than the USB socket in my lurvely new car will do. (I am sure it is a Read The Flipping Manual job, there, as well.) My collection of Talk Audio test USB sticks and SD doodads is littered with various formats of files from MP3 to FLAC and I am sure one or two are corrupted. I reckon this was my problem.
I have now tested said deck with FM, CD, iPod, Aux 3.5mm Jack input from an old Sony MP3 player and also made calls upon it, since it is a Bluetooth unit. Streamed music from my phone has also been tested. I just need to shoot the video and assemble the opinions. It’s a superseded unit but the quality of this JVC is high.
OK, get the Tiny Finger Violins out. For I am not sure how but I have aggravated an ancient knee injury and have feeling a bit sorry for myself. No excuse for not getting stuff done but it ain’t a help. Hobbling a bit, whingeing a lot.
One thing that is planned is a visit to the Ace Café, to catch up with Amy Slade, Clarion ambassador and her fullbore Nissan Zee showcar. That’s the weekend after next. I think I can also swag some Clarion USA stuff to show you guys, as their BMW 2002 full restoration project is a thing of deep beauty.
Right now, there is a clearance going on in the Talk Audio Accessories shop. Do refresh until a shop banner appears and biff it, or click here: link
