New Fi BTL Super-woofers
Am at Blade has some hot news regarding the new nutter-grade woofers from new rising star subwoofer makers, Fi&;. The new Fi BTL subwoofer’s design centres mainly around a new motor structure. Previously an array of 9 inch diameter stacked Ferrite magnet slugs was used, three to be exact. This time engineer Scott Atwell was able to create an even greater motor strength with one 11.25 inch single slug magnet. Motor strength enhancements mean greater magnetic ‘shove’ acting on the cone and so higher performance.
Whilst it costs more to build the list price remains the same.
Xmax is right at 30mm for the daily driver sub and around 16mm for the SPL-only version.
Bearing in mind the 12 inch sub is a tight squeeze through its cut-out, you’ll have fun getting the huge magnet through a normal cut-out!
Adam Daniels also picked up 1st place at the European finals of dB Drag with his new BTL18s in Street Max 1-2 woofers, with a score of 164.1dB which is a 0.8dB gain from his previous subs. Not far off the world record either; within 1dB!
These guys are actually going up 0.8dB from 163.3dB? That’s just mad! Ed.
