New Vibe Kit, Clarion MiND & mad woofers
One really big news story at the CES is the convergence of personal navigation and the internet. Clarion have created a device called MiND or Mobile internet Navigation Device. It uses Bluetooth or else Wifi to connect up to your net-browsing-capable mobile phone (or home router) and adds a whole slew of extra functionality such as Googlemap data to update the POI system – which makes the whole thing dynamic and looks so cool in use.
There are hooks to certain sites like Youtube but the association with Google is so cool it’s frozen! It does need the phone to be a source of the data but it is all happening. I snapped it with the CES story showing on the screen.
Powerbass were showing a woofer much bigger than the stuff currently imported into the UK, here, the 4XL-15D
Midbass have a huge stand here and have finally had their R8 show up from the container locked at the docks, along with all the shiny blingy new stuff and boxes to put on show. Fraser Scotcher, the Midbass PR guy had to be up at 5.30am to get it all unpacked – mad.
Midbass have realigned some of their kit to make them into distinct ranges and stuff such as the QB69 has had a re-design cosmetically to matt black. Now, it’s part of the Black Death range.
New Vibe speakers include a range called Lite Air, which are all glassfibre coned and have front mounted Neodymium magnets – I have a front and a rear view for you as they are so shallow. There is a new range of all Class GH amplifiers called Lite Box as they are so small for their level of output.
Snapped in high res for the main report once I come back, I have also got a shot of the nutty Cadence DCW34 – yes a 34 inch woofer. rated at 5kW RMS it is insane. I gather they actually have orders for them, too.
I visited with Tom Walker of AudioControl and presented him with the tin of toffees – it transpires that they are having irritations with placing their video clips on the net, so I told them how we do ours!
Last of all, to keep a promise made on the forum, I have some low res instant gratification shots of two lasses from automotive security form Zenesis: Sasha & Christine, who, when I showed them the issue of Fast Car knew all the girls in their SEMA report!
OK that’s enough for now, I have to get back to the action…
See y’all soon.
Adam :-))))
And here’s where to click to see a funky cool slideshow in the newly imported gallery system. We LOVE this!
