ALL NEW 2017 VOLVO XC60, LAUNCH EVENT AND TEST DRIVES D4 & T5

Adam Rayner drives the all-new VOLVO XC60 in the D4 Inscription Pro model and the T5 R Design. Both had the truly HiFi experience that is the £2,500 Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

In my opinion (and having heard ALL THREE cabin iterations of this system) this one has the shortest path lengths to your ears of any of them. Thus the HiFI immediacy of the highs is superior in energy as it reaches your ears, with any differences in arrival times of sounds from those path lengths dialled-out of existence by digital signal processing via use of ‘time alignment’ as seen in posh aftermarket kit. Also, the smaller cubic of this mid size SUV’s cabin, makes the Fresh Air infinite baffle, dual pressure-loaded subwoofer system work more viscerally. Thus, the XC60 offers the most exciting and potent of all the B&W Volvo cars’ sound fields. I was truly impressed as a pukka Hifi reviewer.. and I have the chops…
