Bass Mekanik Lowd & Slowd Can Schmoke Your Coils
Ladies and Bassmungous Nutjob Low Frequency Hounds, I have glad tidings of lower lows than yours!
Talk Audio is now proudly hooked up with the world’s most famous and long-serving bass head guru and music maker/producer, The Bass Mekanik.
Daddy to a whole culture in the USA and well known here to those who had CDs imported in the days of yore, you can now preview and download his music here: This page is for Lowd Slowd
And here’s what the Mekanik has to say about it:
‘Hello Adam, I sent you the LOWD SLOWD album – here’s some background on it;
There has been a trend over the past couple years of bass fans altering and manipulating favourite songs with their home computers – usually its to slow them down and/or add bass. After hearing more than a few enthusiastic but shall we say botched? versions of our material, we decided who better to manipulate our audio files than us! After all, we have the high resolution studio files and also some quite expensive plug-ins that perform much better than the semi-pro home versions and result in far fewer nasty artefacts….
The result is LOWD SLOWD, which kicks off with the most oft abused song of all, BASS BALLIN’ – and then continues to rumble down the road of sub harmonic excess with some of our personal faves from the last few years. Make no mistake, if you ever want to intentionally cook a woofer or broil some steaks over an incandescent power amp in the tailgate of your truck, this IS the Album of choice!
Quite simply the most consistently loud deep bass that we have ever released, we are talking high level 16 Hz in some sections, particularly on SUCK MY BASS, which is its own little exercise in bass excess. All 12 songs are massive, not a wimp in the bunch so enjoy!
Cheers,’
More music news soonbut do let me know what you guys think – as this is lower than a snake’s belly and INTENSE!
AND finallyfor those young whippersnappers who have not heard of Bass Mekanik, here’s his Biog:
“Bass Mekanik is a pseudonym of producer Neil Case, one of the premiere forces in bass music. He got his start as a DJ in his native Jamaica, where he first became fascinated with the low frequencies in the records he was spinning. Moving on to a job as an assistant engineer in Kingston’s Dynamic Sound Studios, he worked with reggae legends like Jimmy Cliff and Peter Tosh while learning the technical aspects of a recording career. After years behind the boards at Dynamic, he moved to Miami and started releasing homemade bass mixes consisting of his own material. Going under the alias of Beat Dominator for the first two years, he decided to switch to the more relevant Bass Mekanik moniker in 1994. Releasing a series of albums, compilations, singles, and collaborations, he became one of the biggest names in the field of bass music, with CDs like Audio Toolbox and Best of Food for Woofers becoming staples of the stereo competition scene. He did this with virtually no promotion, relying on the ultra-low frequencies in his music to appeal to aficionados of car stereos. Word of mouth became his most important advertising tool, and he reciprocated by talking with his fans about what his music could do to further compliment their stereos. Case became such a key figure in the scene that he had a line of car audio components named after him, inspiring him to move further into the business aspect of his art. He started his own label and website, link, in 2001.”
