In A Nutshell
A small and affordable pod type speaker such as one might have seen in the back of a Ford Capri, VW Bus, Dune Buggy or other such retro wagon. The fact is, despite the seemingly old and cute design, the speakers within are well-engineered and potent. Able to handle a true 40W RMS, these are deeply worthy for the money.

Editor Review : Caliber CSB1 Car Box Speakers
I connected these small loudspeakers to the Caliber CA75.2BT Bluetooth amplifier that I was also sent and features in the unboxing video. The tiny CA75.2BT amp seemed the perfect match for these. However, they are rated at 80 W maximum and 40 W RMS or root mean square, meaning continual power. Thus, you could easily put these on a ‘˜proper’ amplifier as the little Bluetooth one is I think (and I could still be wrong because the sound is that good) a chip type amplifier as found inside high-quality car radios. The kinds that say they are 4 x 75 W. These are usually a true 4 x 27 W RMS. And that is more than the 4 x 25 watts that the wee 75.2 amp claims.
There are barely any instructions with the product, as after all a neat installation diagram is worth 1,000 words and the single sheet included covers many languages. Generously long (if skinny) speaker wires are provided and ready-attached. All you need to get right is to connect the stripe the same way each side. I remember mine with the brand of Caribbean beer called red stripe!
I followed that installation diagram, in reverse, Took out the four screws and examined the insides. The chassis is pressed metal, Square and inexpensive. The tweeter although perfectly able to impress, is a kind now available for improbably low prices. A single small capacitor acts as a 6dB per octave passive crossover, protecting the tiny speaker from big bad bass notes. The rest of the music from mids down to bass, is the business of the paper cone on the foam surround. It is when you turn it around that you discover the main motor magnet is almost the same diameter as the entire cone assembly. If this was following correct retro tradition, this would be a reedy, pathetic little disc of piffle. It isn’t it’s bloody Hench!
I’ve played all sorts of music through them and ultimately despite being well built, low-frequency output of this system is limited by the small plastic real estate. If you’re keen on the retro look and grasp that pointing them BACKWARDS in the right place on your hatchback’s parcel shelf will give you a single reflected path-length for the entire output to be bounced from your rear windscreen with almost no loss of higher frequencies, then you will get rewarded with mad clarity. To hell with sound-competition ‘˜front stereo’, this is about a maximum output! And if you are being trendy in your purchase of these speakers, then hang two small boxes under their mounting position with room to breathe, yet still enclosed and give the bass notes extra cubic to generate. Because I am certain that the CSB1 loudspeakers’ main coaxial ordnance is definitely up to the job.
To sum up, absurd value for money, genuinely good performance from the tweeters, great dynamics overall and the sound quality in general is startling and quite belies their price. Pair them with the little Bluetooth amplifier called CA75.2BT or any amplifier up to 2 x 40 watts.
