DLS Make Tube amps

Disparaged as ‘light bulbs’ by the ignorant it has always been true that the lovely warm sound of the Valve amplifier device was a sad loss as we leaped into the transistor age. These days, guitar amplifiers still use valves and the very finest home amplifiers use valves too. Considered just mad to use in a car amplifier, some of the very most extreme manufacturers (like Genesis’ £15k P15) have been known to use them and Panasonic once did a limited edition two-DIN CD deck which had a valve in its signal path that you could see in the front of its panel. Now, DLS have something to crow about regarding ‘tubes’ in car amps. Released at the CES on the 7th January 2008.

DLS Limited Edition Tube Car Amplifiers

A glowing example of DLS’ Super Natural Sound has conquered the mobile audio world: The DLS TA2 Tube Amplifier for cars. The idea for this unique project came from the DLS engineer’s experience with high end home audio where tube amps have always been state of the art for great sound performance. Using the knowledge and experience in building world class car amps DLS designed and built the TA2 Tube Amp for maximum reliability and sound quality without regard for cost. Due to the challenging premises to make a good sounding and durable product DLS decided to equip the TA2 amps with special high performance tubes used by the British Military.
Musicians and true audiophiles will tell you that valve amplifiers produce a warmer and more pleasant sound compared to transistor amplifiers. TA2 is rated at 2 x 100 WRMS and is 2 ohm stable.

The products are in the UK now, priced at £1,499.00 apiece and two are installed already in the fabulous AVHQ demo car, one running right mid and tweet and the other left in Bob Hobson’s own ride. Nuff said!
