EMMA ROUND THREE @ Midbass Open Day, Incorporating T-20

Some people need telling that a ‘˜Services to the Industry’ award is already something they deserve. One such is Andrew Ackerley, boss of EMMA UK, the British Sound Off scene’s only SQ competition series. For he has kind of done a fabulous thing. He has organised us all! Roo has secured the premises and efforts of the whole of Midbass. The Vibe, BlackDeath, Fli, Edge, Ground Zero and more people are having a full on open day and Andrew has hooked up a full sound off round, the THIRD, this year, at their gaff. (Midbass Distribution, Tech House, Reddicap Trading Estate, Sutton Coldfield, B75 7BU.)
It is the 6th July coming, and is as well as the Midbass open day, where they are unleashing the new revamped VIBE RIG TRUCK, they shall also be putting the Vibe Hearse through the SPL measurement system. I gather that is by way of entry into the EMMA SPL contest. This is a notoriously tough one to score a big number in, so I want to ask if we can do a dB Drag/Propper Droppers style test first. This is because I sat in the hearse at the Modified Nationals and after a full charge and sitting unabused for a while, Rich the installer let me at the knob. I cranked the hell out of it and swear to this day that it felt like a one-sixty. I can judge accurately to within a dB or two up to 157dB and now reckon I can tell a one-sixty, after a few goes in the Ground Zero Volvo of Mark Smith!
Anyway, that’s two sexy things for the hosts our promoters and a chance to see if I am talking utter bollocks. (I can tell you that my publisher has NEVER believed it hit that, that I was wrongso there is amusement value in finding out, as well as major kudos to Midbass and BlackDeath amps and speakers alike if they do it!)
But for the greatest number of solid, staunch Talk Audio folks, the ones who know that at six years service, I am still the noob around here, (for Talk Audio is a decade older than my being the lucky journalist handed the chance to write for you lot, on a velvet cushion.) the REAL thrill will be that after a hiatus, the T-Meets ride again. Named after the T-In-The-Park gigs of all those years ago, the cultural reference has faded but our numbering has not. This is the TWENTIETH T-Meet. Yes it is T-20 and we have got some distributors coming along to exhibit, too. They include Alpine, Four Masters, Blade Ice, Cerwin-Vega and SilentCoat. There will be places to hang out, a mad SPL indoors area practically embedded in the hillside for sound containment and a part set aside for the SQ cars for their judging.
EMMA head judge Francesco Richichi (owner of EMMA Italia and speaker builder AudioXPlus in Italy) is coming to look at us and I will definitely be getting him on camera for an interview.
So come along, it is free to attend, you just pay to enter the sound off or to get your car Sound Pressure Level tested. Here is a link to the EMMA site: link
