EMMA SEASON FINALE AT TRAX MEANS LEAGUE GLORY!
The only kind of audio that has world wide competitions is car audio and the European Mobile Media Association, or EMMA’s contest scene is bigger in England than the USA-based IASCA one ever got. Under the able guidance and boundless enthusiasm of the entire Ackerley family, led by Andrew, son of Papa Bear and A patriarchal figure all on his own, Roo as we call him, has put blood, sweat and tears into Sound Off. Indeed, for this last round, he is even helping judge, using those golden ears
And it is the culmination of the whole 2014 season to have the finals also feature the League Trophies or the overall winners of the season in each class, not just each round. Kinda like motor racing’s World Champion thing, we have Round Winners and each year, League Winners, from whom are selected the possible entrants to send off overseas to the pan-European finals.
Our 2014 UK league finals are at Trax, ( link ) as ever, on the 7th of September, or next Sunday as I type, at the UK motor racing venue of legends, Silverstone. (The one that Brands Hatch wants to be so bad, the very Tarmac can taste it.) I gather that for the third year running, the distributors of JL Audio and Dynamat, Celsus Ice, are sponsoring the lovely Jade Crystal glass league trophies. I love glass, as it does not tarnish and the ‘˜jade’ bit refers to a greenish tinge to the thick bevelled edges of these weighty gongs. So a huge thanks are due to Celsus Ice.
Adam Rayner called up Mister Celsus, who said, ‘We are utterly delighted to be sponsoring the UK EMMA 2014 League Trophies once again. This is our THIRD YEAR! JL Audio as a brand, became famous because of winning so well at sound offs and thus we believe in audio competition. We are off chasing business with the crazy world of hot rods that weekend, telling them all about Dynamat. So forgive us if we can’t be there in person. But I think we may just try and sort out a couple of promotional staff to wear our branding and to look better in trophy presentation shots than Adam, with respect, of course!’ Er thanks, I think no it’s fabulous and heart warming to see this working so well that it is in the third year.
So bonkers, it can ONLY be for sound off.
You will have to be an enthusiast to find the sound off area at Trax, for Silverstone is vast and it is again on the track all but under the bridge we all use to get into the middle. Which means it’ll be quite a hike from the pit lane area. However, Roo has asked the Midbass Distribution folks if they will let us have their stage for the end of the show and they said ‘yes’. So, for the last part of the day, the Vibe Rig becomes the EMMA Stage and shall be where we present the Trax trophies and the 2014 league trophies and make sure we get decent photographs of the winners all lined up in each group. As well as a massive all-winners shot as seen in the profile pictures selection on the EMMA UK Facebook page, here: link
If we are lucky, it’ll be one of those lovely golden Septembrous days that are warm and pleasant, sunny and bright. I know, for I have been keeping an eye on the weather for some years. The seventh of September is mine and MeJulie’s 23rd wedding anniversary and this year, it has fallen on the actual day.
I am toast.
Looking forward to seeing you there and if you do spot The Fat Tw*t In The Hat© and want to come and say hello, then do! I admit I keep hearing from people who said they would have come and said hello but were shy, so here’s an opener. I keep on instructing, when I implore folks to get in touch for more information on a topic, of any supplier or fitting house, to say, ‘The Fat Man Sent Me!’ So try that.
Can you see the Santa Pod quarter-mile gantry sign?
