EMMA UK Announce Events Schedule & Seminar
Just a quick one from Andrew Ackerley, head honcho of EMMA UK, the British arm of the European Mobile Multimedia Association, or sound off circuit. As ever, there will be several rounds of UK competing in both Sound Quality and Sound Pressure Level categories, before a UK finals that decides league winners and those who may qualify to go off on the long drive to take part in the pan-European Finals, usually around October time.
The EMMA sound off competitions are held at major car shows, although there are other events that they take cars along to by way of demo events, just to let show goers hear the sound of a top HiFi in a car and to encourage new members to join and take part.
These are the 2012 Championship events where the competitions will be held:
‘Ž
Round 1 Car Audio Security, Hayes 28th-29th April
Round 2 Modified Nationals, East of England Showground 1st-3rd June
Round 3 Modified Live, Brands Hatch 8th July
Round 4 Ultimate Street Car, Santa Pod 3rd-5th August
Round 5 Trax, Silverstone 2nd September
Keep up to date with any demo events by checking the EMMA site here:

And for those who are already involved in EMMA sound offs, you may know that the judging process each season hangs from a single specially-recorded CD. As such, having a good knowledge of the tracks on the disc and how they are to be used and applied to scrutinise your system, is always a help, as you get your own copy and tweak your system at home, (or wherever you have to drive to) in your preparations. As such, it’s always a good thing if the organisers allow you to get together and dissect the recording in advance and they are doing just that. It’ll cost you £30 each (or the price of dinner for two with one drink at a Harvester) and you will get the combined wisdom of expert sound off champ and awesome install owner, Dave Legg, as well as Andy Blanch, who has been a top EMMA judge for longer than he will want to admit.
Here’s how EMMA’s Ackerley-San put it
2012 Competition CD Introduction Seminar
With the new competition CD & rulebook being released, EMMA-UK will be hosting an Introduction To The Disc seminar. Available to anyone who wishes to attend, competitor/installer/tuner for a cost of £30 per person. The aim is to provide a detailed explanation of the new CD and give an in-depth view of what to listen for and how to use the CD as a tool to maximise the tuning and sound of any in-car audio system. This would be classroom based using a home HIFI system for reference.
From 10:00 till 14:00 on Sunday 15th April, it will take place at the Holiday Inn, Leicester, hosted by Andy Blanch & Dave Legg.
Attendees would be advised to take notes throughout the session. With limited spaces available this is strictly a first come, first served basis, Registration is open via email: [email protected]
