Review by Adam Rayner
A handsome package, this wiring kit is pretty well comprehensive in that Fusion bother to also include a length of sheathing for running the power wire through the engine bay with some protection. Not all wiring kits include this. There are two lengths of really rather thin (18 Ga.) speaker cable included but they are really quite long at 5 metres. The power cable is good and flexible, with a genuinely phat 8 gauge set of coppery threadery running through it as described and the power rings and speaker terminals are well crimped on. That said, I did think my amplifier was a DFA (Does ‘Flap’ All) out of the box as it wouldn’t power up. I used another ‘known good’ amp with the wires and then worked out it was the long blue remote wire at fault. No voltage to the accessory terminal means silence. This was a real pain but with a tiny bit of a brain, anyone could work it out. The time it cost me in undoing stuff and trying other things merely meant that as I tested the speakers as part of a big package of stuff, I was able to listen to them on an expensive amplifier as well as the cheaper Encounter model the wiring kit was sold with. However, as a standalone product it is, as they say a ‘Ronseal Job’. Does what it says on the pack and will happily wire up an amp of up to 500 watts output. All I would suggest is use the skinny speaker wire provided on tweeters but get some cheap but thicker stuff for the rest of your speakers.
