ICE Oscars, ICE EXPO
How does it feel to be the most powerful voice in car audio? There is an awards ceremony held once a year by the trade. It’s the Oscars of Ice and is run by Mobile Electronics News. A posh evening with a dinner and some partying afterwards, glory is awarded to top products and top people and this year you could be there, with a partner! You will need a tux or a nice frock if you win, though.
This is the second year of Talk Audio having the privilege to be the consumer press sponsor and this time around our forum community has been invited by open poll to decide which products are going to win what.
Go see and if it’s a set of kit you feel you can have a valid opinion on, then vote. Exercise your ICE Franchise!
Secondly, and even more exciting is that the guys at Mobile Electronics News have listened to the enthusiasts’ pleas about the coolness of their annual trade expo and starting with the next one, have made the first day a PUBLIC one. This means that the dedicated ice-only show will be back after a serious long time. For over a decade now, these events if at all, have been attached to car shows as an ‘ice village’. Well, with M.E.N. Expo, that’s over. Here’s what the Mobile Electronics news folks have to say about it all, with a slant for our trade readers, of course!
M.E.N EXPO 2010 WILL FEATURE CONSUMER DAY
The dates for the 2010 M.E.N Expo have now been confirmed as Sunday 7th to Monday 8th March, and this year there’s an exciting new development. After feedback from exhibitors after this year’s event, the 2010 show will boast an all-new format, allowing for a consumer day on the Sunday. Saturday will be build up day for exhibitors, then on Sunday the event will open as the Auto Sound and Style show, giving exhibitors the chance to reach the end user directly.
This offers a great opportunity for exhibitors to retail to a mobile electronics hungry crowd, with the additional benefit of an automotive performance and styling hall also attracting car enthusiast consumers. The event will be heavily marketed in the consumer media and at shows leading up to the event, ensuring maximum penetration into the market and maximum footfall.
On top of that the Monday will revert to the traditional trade-only format, a successfully tried and tested formula which allows exhibitors the chance to demonstrate new products, catch up with existing customers and potentially take on new accounts. Previous years have proven to be a hit with exhibitors and visitors alike, now 2010 will opens even further opportunities making it a must for any company looking to get on in 2010.
