In-CarPC Powerful Adaptable Car Computing

Seen at the recent trade show, organised by the newly renamed trade title (now known as Mobile Electronics News and all the cooler for it) was this double DIN flavour of the future. ‘It’s a proper computer’ is what is says in the blurb but I can tell you that it also drips with ME features. Like Sat nav with speed camera warning database, seven digit postcode search and full European mapping. It does handsfree Bluetooth stuff and can do text-to-speech for your SMS as you drive without having to look away from the road. It has a DVD mech, meaning CD playback as well as of course being able to hook up USB flash drives. It has 3G internet connection for mobile use, so you can surf, Skype, e-mail from a  keyboard if being driven (Now an infraction of that magnitude would make news – it’d be a bloody rep, wouldn’t it? One up from being caught texting or eating with chopsticks. Not that I EVER did the latter&;) or play stuff from memory cards or an MP3 gizzmodo.

You can even have advanced voice recognition such that you can write e-mails or documents, or have them read out to you as you drive. Set a queue of documents to be read out to you.
It uses a touch screen that you operate with a stylus for detail and can be accessorised with extra display screens for full back seat functionality and can have a printer and scanner device appended too. There’s even fingerprint recognition available for security. The InCarPC folks organise installation on-site and reckon all the systems are bespoke designed to your urge with more or less of the features as you wish. Pointless having speech recognition is  very noisy rorty-engined wagon, I’d imagine… They will even undertake upgrades later, so it really does read like a normal ‘pooter operation. Just for the car.

This HAS to be of huge interest to the Talk Audio elite, I reckon!
