It’s Not All Doomy
Times are nutty as the market shrinks. Right now there are more people playing musical chairs and swapping jobs or even leaving the trade of mobile electronics by being made redundant than I can ever recall. It’s an odd thing, as I learned that despite the entire market shrinking in some respects, some parts are doing OK or even thriving. Never fear that Halfords will be in trouble as in these tough times, more people are fixing their own cars, buying bikes and looking after their cars better as they ditch plans to change it. Thus their business was reported as doing well on the profits front in the papers. Even if they are selling less ice, like everyone.
The trade show Mobile Electronics News Expo was held last week and I trolled off to go visit. It was a mixed situation with a few names missing (like Blaupunkt) but those who were there were serious players with a reason to visit. Everyone I spoke to had had dealers coming to see them with a view to improving what they do and were pleased they went. So the calibre of visitors was typically high, even if there were not thousands present. A goodly portion of the exhibitors were companies who supply OEM integration products of many varieties. I had a great meet-up with the guys from Connects2 and learned of a new range of kit called Onyx.
I didn’t get to do more than hook the Bass Mekanik VLS-1 processor up and write the intro in the event last week but will get the review done ASAP.
Daft amount of stuff on the To-Do list – I gotta get a clone……
