Kenwood Invite the Robot IN!

The clever and forward-thinking folks at Kenwood Electronics have today announced that all of their 2012 USB single DIN head units are compatible with the Android Applicaton system. This includes every deck, from the entry level £79 effort all the way up to the £250 models and includes all the units that also feature Bluetooth as part of their panoply of technical prowess.

And here’s some interesting factoids..of all phones used right now, only 35% are old fashioned GSM ones and 65% are now ‘smartphones’. Of those smartphones, it is just 17% Apple, yet 52% are Android phones, with BlackBerry having an 11% slice and Nokia whimpering with 15% versus their one-time market dominance. Also, the projected growth of Android is epic, so the system will just be bigger and bigger.

Their first app is called ‘Music Control’ and will, via USB to the headunit, allow you to do just that by artist, genre and song/album. You can plug in your Samsung, what have you and it’ll act just like any other mass storage player of other brands.

The entry level deck is the KDC-3045UR. Backlit in red, it is also available as a green backlit unit and called the KDC-3045UG.

The posher KDC-4054UR adds full-on control for iPod and iPhone as well as happily having the Android facility.

Very sexy good looking units, we’re itching to get our paws upon them to play with….
