In A Nutshell
A full range loudspeaker enclosure with a horn-loaded mid/Hf driver, made to be used outdoors. The plastic enclosures are UV resistant and feature a long-travel 6.5in bass unit and a horn with a two inch by five inch mouth. This horn serves to add acoustic loading to the mid-highs driver in its guts and enables it to concentrate the acoustic energy into a controlled-dispersion pattern. This feature, along with the stout metal sheet brackets and knurled knobs to secure them, makes for a speaker you can mount and aim easily and is designed to have a good long ‘˜throw’. You can remove the grilles and swivel the KICKER badgeor remove it altogether if you would rather,. Spring loaded push terminals to affix the speaker wires. Also available in white.

The KB6000 speaker looks like a little hifi unit for fixing to a wall. It isn’t! The Kicker KB6000 is designed exclusively for use outdoors and so to be heard from a serious distance if need be. Far more like pro-audio units (the sort that might play to you at a theme park queuing system) this has a horn to play the mids and highs. The 6.5inch cone is being asked to make as much deep bass as it can, while the horn does midband duties as well as highs to 21kHz. That’s quite some driver in that horn and indeed, close-up at full power on the MTX IWA225 Bluetooth amp I used to test these, sounded a bit hard. But they are not meant to sat between in the perfect stereo sweet spot. No, these are about beer and barbecue, kids’ parties and maybe playing the sports radio channel in the garden. So, off-axis, they sound pretty damn impressive. With the cabinets upright, you will get excellent side-to-side spread, with them mounted sideways, they will reach a long way back.
And that is the only problem. In the UK, only a few of us are able to buy and use these. A bit like the awesome American products that we see in the Costco warehouse. Wow, I would love their two grand steel out door cook station thing! And how about a six foot plus nut cracker Christmas decoration? Just the physical space can be an issue, as with these, the fact that neighbours five doors up and six doors down will ALL be able to hear your tunes, may be something of an issue.
They are keenly priced for what REALLY is not a ‘˜normal’ set of speakers and I have to say, the silly little 6.5in bass drivers think they are ruddy tens! For the bass end is fat and rich and is specc’ed down to 55Hz. They definitely play lower than that! The deep tones in the bonkers electronica I love, were delicious. But best of all, these love raucous Rock & Roll. I have a guilty pleasures Old Rock Mix from Google Play and the Kicker KB6000s loved every track!
