Mobile Electronics & Security Technician NVQ

The trade show for Mobile Electronics News magazine had dealers present to check out the new kit and so there was lots of product but also exhibiting to this exclusive band (and you lot, through us lot) were the folks from Lagor training. They are accredited assessors for the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) NVQ scheme whereby you can qualify for an NVQ whilst training at work, or else by way of going through the process once experienced, so as to gain the National Vocational Qualification and have the recognition of a formal qualification.

The scheme covers both performance and knowledge assessment to establish competence. The course consists of eight units, some compulsory, like health and safety and some you select, such as ‘Enhance vehicle system features’ and covers entertainment, communications security and telematics. Fault finding and good work practices feature, so if you can’t ever find a spanner, perhaps you need to get involved. A Really Enlightened Thing for dealers to apply to their staff but if I was one, I’d sign ’em to a contract to stick around afterwards!

Call Lagor training on 01934 514 654 or see www.lagor.co.uk The IMI’s site is www.motor.org.uk or call 01992 511521 to learn more about the whole scheme. This specialised NVQ is one from an IMI list of 44 NVQs and VRQs.
