Morel Mondays: Twisted P10 Land Rover
Land Rover used to be the ONLY name in Africa that mattered and while the posh people and ‘˜naice’ expats still buy and use their legendary vehicles, the continent these days is dominated by the Toyota Land Cruiser. However, in a land where the Range Rover has acquired a little chavvy edge for some, with the Evoque being the new ‘˜WIN’ on the street, the Land Rover has never really stopped being cool.
That the Defender, 67 years in development after aping the US army Jeep, will be made no more after December 2015 is a shame. Used by Royals (they have the Royal Warrant) and emergency services alike, it is a classic.
And like AMG, Hartge and Koenigsegg, there is a bitchin’ tuner/styler that specialises in aftermarket doings for Land Rovers, the Defender in particular and they are called Twisted Performance.
This is one such car.
But they wanted to go deeper than Twisted could offer and as well as the mad tuned diesel performance and awesome seating, the Auto Audio guys have re-trimmed in Alligator-embossed leather (not real Alligator, ‘We don’t DO that kind of thing, but I do have Ostrich.’ I was told) and installed a seriously high quality sound system, with Alpine head and Morel Limited Edition ELATE speakers, the three-ways.
Now so rare, and so many top music business producers and artists shop there, that they tend to keep what’s left for music professionals.
A seriously easy product to get a stupefyingly good sound in-car from, due the huge over-engineering of the drivers, specifically for in-car use. In their own way, they are as specialised a set of engineering as the fine cars they fit them in at Auto Audio.
Here is the video coverageyou can tell that again, I would REALLY like to own a car just like this one!
