This just in from Car Audio Direct, our closest chums in the trade and the UK importer/distributor for Ground Zero, SilentCoat and Phonocar. That last, an Italian brand, goes far back and deep into the Italian car audio culture and now, we understand, Phonocar have a new top end offering to celebrate a big anniversary. Evolved, derived, from technology designed for the use of recording studio engineers in their near-field monitors. So these have superb antecedents and I for one, would just LOVE to cop an earful some time here’s the full skinny from the guys at CAD:
Phonocar celebrate their 40th Anniversary in producing high quality car audio with a new bench-mark product – the new MAGICO series speakers.
These revolutionary speakers, feature a design without a rear basket and are absolutely unique in the car audio market. It is commonly known that the basket of a speaker can have a negative influence on both the sound quality and the cooling of the speaker’s core. By designing the MAGICO speakers without a basket, both of these issues are addressed.
With no basket the speaker design ensures that rear output of driver cannot reflect off the basket and cause problems with the frequency response. Sound quality remains clean and uncoloured.
The special cooling system is another very important feature. Heat produced by the voice coil is carried to the open (front) side of the speaker passing through the protective chassis and resulting in a ten times greater heat dissipation capability than with traditional speakers.
Thanks to the composite ‘sandwich’ voice coil, with internal and external windings, the whole system benefits from a higher efficiency. Suitable for woofer and mid-bass applications.
The Magico speakers are manufactured, assembled and quality controlled in-house by Phonocar in Italy, so that quality and reliability are of the highest level.
