Pioneer Giving App Developers Chance To Make Apps In-Car Compatible

App Developers across Europe are being given the opportunity to bring their product into the car environment thanks to a unique venture launched by Pioneer.
It is now easier than ever for app developers to make their product work with the Pioneer AppRadio range of in-car entertainment products thanks to the launch of the AppRadio Development Centre (ADC), link. The site has been created to assist developers in making their apps compatible with the range of in-car AppRadio products.
The AppRadio Development Centre will provide the integration process, developer information and app certification for creating apps suitable for the AppRadio platform. Current apps offer users a mix of entertainment and services designed specifically for in-vehicle use such as navigation.
Pioneer AppRadio products enable users to bring the apps on their Apple or Android smartphone into the car, via a screen installed on the dash. This unique website will give more developers the chance to make their apps compatible and open up many more possibilities for smartphone users on the move.
Girish Janday, product executive at Pioneer, said: ‘We now have dozens of apps available for our line of AppRadio products and we continue to work with popular services in high demand, to incorporate their entertainment functionality into our products. With the launch of the AppRadio Development Centre, we will be able to offer even more third-party apps to consumers and help developers to quickly integrate their apps with our compatible products.’

The new AppRadio Development Centre will help grow the library of AppRadio apps by expediting the development process. To gain full access to the AppRadio Development Centre, developers must have their app(s) available for download from Google Play or the Apple App store. Developers are encouraged to register their company and app(s) information to start the review process and determine if the app(s) meets the AppRadio platform requirements. Pioneer will evaluate each app and confirm whether it is appropriate for use in the vehicle environment and meets Pioneer’s Driver Distraction Guidelines. The guidelines are created to develop apps on the AppRadio platform that are designed specifically for in-vehicle use and promote safer use while driving.
Once a developer is registered on www.appradiodev.com, Pioneer provides admission to the AppRadio Developer Program and grants full access to Pioneer’s Software Developer Kit (SDK) for integration with the developer’s iOS or Android app(s). There is no licensing cost for the use of the SDK, provided the AppRadio interface is not sold as an in-App purchase.
