Pioneer Return To Digital Radio With Its First Ever All-In-One DAB Unit
One of the world’s leading car audio specialists is making a return to the digital radio market by launching its first single DIN DAB unit.
Pioneer has launched the new DEH-X6500DAB, to re-introduce itself to the DAB in-car radio market with its first all-in-one digital radio unit. Due to the increasing demand and changing consumer markets, Pioneer has returned to DAB with an improved model to rival its competitors, with a wide range of impressive features.
The DEH-X6500DAB model incorporates a digital radio tuner, to embrace the growing popularity of digital audio broadcasts that provide high-quality digital sound through improved signal reception and easy programme selection. In addition to crystal clear reception, the DAB tuner lets the user Time-Shift radio by pausing radio playback and resuming listening later in the same way that live TV can be paused.
Renowned for its powerful sound reproduction, Pioneer has fitted the unit with the potent MOSFET 50W x 4 amplifier, a five-Band Graphic Equaliser and Advanced Sound Retriever (ASR) technology which restores any musical detail lost in the creation of compressed music files. Should extra power be required, two high-volt RCA pre-outs enable connection of additional amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers.
Steve Sambrook, UK sales manager at Pioneer, said: ‘This is an exciting product for us and the time is right to go back into the DAB market. The popularity of digital broadcasts and Internet Radio in the home environment, coupled with the choice of stations available, has led to an increasing demand for the same choice of programming in the car environment.
The DEH-X6500DAB delivers that and offers the consumer a multitude of choice in ways to play their music, whether it be DAB, FM Radio, CD, iPod/iPhone or USB storage device, it’s all available on this unit.’
Mixtrax comes included, which takes the music from an iPod, iPhone, or USB device and plays it back with added transitions and effects. This creates a seamless mix of the user’s music library in a style similar to a live DJ, bringing the club experience into the car.
Aesthetically pleasing too: DEH-X6500DAB has a multi-colour display offering 200,000 colours to match any interior or dashboard illumination. Information on the screen has also been made brighter and easier to read, while a fully illuminated USB port and Aux-in make it easy to locate inputs in the dark.
USB connectivity allows users to connect their Apple device straight to the tuner’s front USB terminal and enjoy superior sound. Music from most Android smartphones can also be played back via USB mass storage as well. Song, artist, and album information are displayed clearly, with an easy to use interface.
If a separate hands-free kit has been installed, the telephone mute connection mutes the DEH-X6500DAB during phone calls. An optional wired remote input also enables a direct connection from the tuner to the car’s steering wheel remote control, to use the main functions of the unit via the steering wheel’s buttons.
