Pioneer : The International CES, Las Vegas 2015

I visited Pioneer in the North halls and met up with Ozzie Lopez, the stalwart who made a clip in the demo car last year. He took me through an Apple CarPlay demo, that is so clear and simple that the damn video is actually boring. I am gutted! While the MTX Polaris Slingshot is roaring to a thousand hits as I type, this video and the other one with the Android Auto system running in the other car was also not racking up the hits. I honestly reckon that head unit part numbers are king in the YouTube milieu. Tragic but true, I didn’t get the model number from this one. But here is Apple Car Play with voice recognition. It IS slick

And now meet Harry Kroll, who is a bit more of a cheery soul, a bit less serious but every bit as gripped by the cool technology. Here, my first sight of Android Auto and guess what? It’s every bit as clever and as good as Apple Car Play. This is Pioneer’s capacitive touch screen $1,400 dollar model.
