Second Skin Spectrum
After spending the last 4 months with a team of polymer chemists and noise coating specialist, Second Skin Audio are very proud and excited to announce their 2007 reformulated Spectrum coating.
Apply Spectrum to the interior or exterior sheet metal panels of any vehicle and reduce 300% more road, engine and exhaust noise than traditional OEM dampers and tar boards, all at half the weight.
Here are a few changes Second Skin have made to their water based noise and vibration coating:
– 2 new acrylic resins for better interior and undercoating durability
– New silicone cross-linker for structural strength, and higher heat tolerance
– Multi mesh size mineral fillers as opposed to a single size filler, allows for better sound absorption
– Water based pigment with medium gloss sheen for better weather ability and improved adhesion
– Proprietary additives to allow for permanent adhesion to oily or greasy surfaces
– Flame resistant – self extinguishing
– Odorless when cured
– Less water content than any competitor – less evaporation means more sound deadening material per gallon
Because Spectrum is a curing polymer, it won’t chip or crack under extreme temperatures or abuse, making it perfect for use as an interior coating or as an undercoating. It can be sprayed with the Second Skin Spray Gun or applied with a paint brush or roller.
The new formulation will be shipping in the UK from late July 2007.
