Talk Audio – The Evolution Of Sound
Last week did get rather taken over by epic items about the Car Audio Security open weekend which was madness and the Modified Nationals the weekend before that was one of the best shows I have worked or been to in years.
However, this week, it’s got to be heads down kit testing. I have left the Alpine SPG-17CS component speakers up for a week longer than usual on the video pane to your upper right as they are such an important product (and being sold for a price out in Internetty-land that’d make them a 12 out of ten for VFM now, which I have never said about any product in over fifteen years of this malarkey) but now, like Rifiki the Wise Old Baboon in The Lion King was always saying, it is time…
Time to get that RE Audio RE-12D4 woofer on a video and this one will have the Sat Nag in it as well (£9 from Red 5) as an aside. A cool device with dozens of witty naggy statements by a woman who sounds like she has done the voice over recordings for real sat navs, like; “In 25 Metres, pull over, so I can get out, slam the door and walk away. I will then wait for you to apologise, even though you have no idea what it is that you have done…” It was first shown to me by well-known industry wag Mike Edwards of Kenwood electronics.
I have also hooked the Pioneer DEH-P88RSII headunit into the demo rig and it sounds awesome. Tragic but true I have left my copy of The Spirit of Sound #6 from Focal in some ruddy deck or other…it’s probably gone back to a manufacturer inside a CD player as a billy bonus for whomever gets to power it up next.
Oh well, it’ll have to be my man Mudbone instead.
