Week Eight In Which I’m A Show-Going Reporter!
The Clarion NX502E of which I spake in this column last Monday has been given a nervous breakdown by this reviewer! In the tradition of Jeremy Clarkson burning tyres on a Bentley while shouting, ‘POWAAA!’ and just recently Top Gear taking a new model around a rally stage, even beating a real rally car by two whole seconds with no proper co-driver, (Just James ‘Cap’n Slow’ May, gibbering in fear and entertaining consternation – bloody starlove that man!) I do stuff to multimedia headunits that only a five year old would do.
I can confuse a PC a treat as well Wanting to do all things at once and leaving stuff running. As I type, I have only six window tabs open Anyway, I have been sent the cord that was basically just missing, that enables the Clarion DAB302E digital radio unit to join up from a round plug into a square hole on the back of the Clarion NX502E and there is a replacement actual unit en route. The one that’s gone tharn (really obscure cultural reference, clue: Art Garfunkel) is to go to a soothing spa and be gently re-pootled. But it is a serious piece and sounds superb so keep watching!
Shows! My world is suddenly filled with them. I report on fishing tackle shows for the Anglers Mail, as I ‘have a technical background’ and can ask about £300k CNC milling machines and stuff they make reels out of. Then this Friday, I am due at the Sound & Vision Show, Bristol, which is the home audio side of my thang. I counted no less than sixteen companies that have had dabblings in or are actively involved in car audio as well. Cables, head units, speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers I wonder if anyone can identify all sixteen companies and what they do or did? (4GB USB freeposted prize!!) Chord Cables is the trick one alone, as their home audio cables have certain specific automotive distribution through FOUR.
And then there’s another massive angling job on the weekend. But I will get that write up started&;
Must get on&;.
