Week fifteen – Gadget Show Was The Cream
This is going to sound sycophantic but I think the presenters on Gadget show are Hardcore pros. I was so smashed by five shows a day in the bit I was doing that I was pretty useless yesterday, getting a few bits done but not the ‘This Week’ blog-column thing here. Then I saw C5’s actual Gadget Show on the telly and they were talking about what was at the show. It was quite clear from the lack of punters and still yet some workers carrying stuff made of MDF around in the background that they were filming before opening, early on the Wednesday. And yet they were due to do the full-on rehearsed theatrical stuff in their full spec theatre all week.I was running the HiFi Theatre with Pioneer and Future publishing as MC and contributor on Home Cinema and In-Car.
Mind you, I was on from 11am to 4.40pm pretty much continuously in between the five shows, engaging with folks as a sort of meat FM station. ( I am SO ready for my own radio thing – a sort of mad tech phone in, call it GEEK HOUR WITH THE FAT BLOKE.) Blithering about the giveaways with subscriptions to the Future titles of T3, HiFi Choice and my title Home Cinema Choice as well as flagging the sessions and teasing dads looking more excited than their sons.
All that and four Carp to a scraper double and a wee Tench in the lake after work for the Anglers Mail, made it great fun. I had an issue with needing to create a new branch on the review tree to include the posh B&W P5 headphones and didn’t manage to get the review posted before the show and frankly £12 an hour for the access at the Hilton was not the problem. I couldn’t get on a machine. If I do much more of this mobile stuff, then finally I am going to have to get the laptop and relinquish the last shred of cyber-freedom I had, reporting with webcams from shows will be next I reckon, on a nice fat-bummed 3G connection.
I’ll go get on, then.
