Week Five: In Which I Found Some Mad (AND VERY) Loud Speakers
You know, I actually have an utterly unpopulated ‘˜Adam Rayner’ website that shows in Google searches and is intended perhaps to act as TV agent (well radio is better, really as you can’t see what a Fugly Git I am on the wireless) or just to exist as an online CV. I could put my old showreel on there and the stuff that used to go on my Pro Audio CV. As believe it or not, I have never ever needed to show a CV to any publisher in all the time I have been up to this malarkey. It’s all been on the ‘˜bull**** walks’ principle that you get found out as an ‘˜expert’ if you fib your way in.
But I will get at it and thus there will be details of my time spent in Rock And Roll as human forklift, box wheeler and cable coiler. There was a very little bit of microphone plugging in and some knob twiddling but most was simple big ugly Herbert ‘˜humper’. I did of course tell everyone I was in the Music Business and was a ‘˜Roadie’. But I don’t think you can count the terribly middle class and jazz rocky ‘˜Paraphernalia’ as hardcore Rock Touring really.it was 5,000 miles of Autobahnen and lots of muesli on the rider. Barbara Thompson and Jon Hiseman also did the theme tune for A Touch Of Frost, toogo Google that lot. It was great fun and very educational.
And I spent time at some really big PA companies after Tears For Fears’ tour manager gave me a list of Known Good PA companies to approach for work. It’s all part of why I know that certain features of speaker manufacture are about longevity and power rather than ‘˜Fine Lights’. And Midbass have made some insane Attention-Seeking Missiles. Check the video ‘˜Very LOUD Speaker’ on TATV and YT under Presenterbloke as well as it being on the TA front page for the week.
