Week Five We Have A Mad Professor In Our Midst!

I am seriously considering changing my Talk Audio user name from Adam Rayner to the THREAD GROKE. For if I go and chip in on an otherwise healthy thread, with folks having a real barney debate about stuff, they are all prone to suddenly shutting up and the thread dies. Like Tove Janssen’s Moomintroll stories villain, The Groke, link I seem to be the ‘bogey man’. This is a big fat hairy thing that comes along and sits on you or sits on the fire, putting it out or leaving the victim frozen stiff. ‘Be good or the Groke will take you!’ was the Moomin mama warning. But the Groke was just cold and my power to make everyone run away like ruddy roaches in a New York apartment when the lights go on, is based on some half baked respect or fear that I might be some kind of knowledge god.
And that, while way past deeply flattering all the way to embarrassed as hell is lovely – but such utter bollocks as to be hysterical. My tech knowledge is limited in real terms to being just about able to keep up with engineers when they talk technical, which they love as most cannot. They feel as lonely as projectionists for the most part.
And I know that in every field there is someone on Talk Audio at any given time who knows the deep tech down to the roots, so I never, ever spout about stuff I am ig’nant about. Like everyone, I learn reams all the time from the other forum users. And boy oh boy have we got a doozy!
Called NeX, he has less than the number of posts required to be even invited into the Members Only forum! But his technical cojones and sheer delicacy of engineering skill (The bloody man can solder stuff smaller than the tip of his iron – like a bloke carving on a rice grain!) to even be able to apply Surface Mount Devices or the SMD micro weeny components BY HAND is bloody nutty! And he has no respect in the best possible way. He’s had a literally awed reception on the boards and all have said ‘more!’ so we’ll turn his thread into an article (with his permission as there are follow ups to be done) and you will be able to see ALL the shots in a nice whizzy slideshow.
Meanwhile, anyone with the nerve to modify a top end DEX-P99R and get away with it, to move the Aux to the rear, while upgrading the socket to a more standard 3.5mm from 2.5 sub miniature micro jack, gets my seal of awe. The picture is the board of the deck after he did it! I am going to do my level best to get him the attention he needs from the top end engineers in Japan and who knows what he’ll come up with?
Meanwhile, I have a real pile of headunits and a new plan to get the productivity right up. Sadly, while I know you want geeky depth, you don’t want to spend an age reading about it. So reviews will be as thoroughly executed but the text shall be able to fit onto an A4 .pdf we can put in shops on counter tops and spread the Talk Audio word and do a review video for each and every one that goes on the page. What do you think? Greater, ever yet easier digestibility and still the full nerd analysis&;
In my ‘whoareya?’ world of angling, where bait alarms meet car alarms in tech terms and who use so very much mobile 12V stuff (in a tent rather than a car, so they are BIG into photovoltaic BTW!) I am getting a wee coup achieved tomorrow, as I am filming a first attempt at a fishing show with working title of ‘The Tackle Room’. It’s all good telly practice and with luck I may be able to persuade them to take on my ‘Boomers & Tweaks2 follow a pair of sound crew people idea as well! Google GreenLight TV.
Must get on&;.
